Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated today (Saturday) throughout the country with religious zeal and fervour in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim Khalilullah (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail Zabiullah (AS) in the fulfilment of the divine order.
Eid prayers will be offered at Eidgahs, principal mosques and open places across the country wherein Ulema and Khateebs will highlight the significance and philosophy of the sacrifice and call upon the Muslims to follow the teachings of Islam in true spirit, official media reported.
On this occasion, special prayers will also be offered for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country and unity among the Muslim Ummah. Prayers will also be offered for the liberation of occupied Muslim territories, including Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine and peace in Afghanistan and Iraq.
In the twin cities Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Eid congregations will be held at over six hundred places. In the federal capital, the main Eid congregation will be held at the Faisal Mosque.
After the Eid prayer, the faithful will sacrifice animals in pursuance of Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi. Stringent security arrangements have made to ensure security.
