Taylor Swift met with Grace Markel, who was hit by a car on her way to a Swift concert.
The 7-year-old Markel was run down outside of Swift’s Aug. 10 Chicago show after exiting a taxi, according to news reports.
The driver who hit the Missouri girl was uninsured and driving on a suspended license.
Markel suffered from two skull fractures, multiple lacerations, a slight left orbital fracture, a nasty concussion and road rash. She had to spend two nights at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Markel’s parents bought her tickets to the Sept. 21 concert in Nashville, Tenn, and the “Red” singer met her backstage.
Amy Markel said, “Taylor greeted Grace by her name and immediately knelt down and hugged her.” Markel’s mother added, “She told Grace she had a cold and asked Grace to sing extra loud to help her out.”
The singer posed for pictures and autographed Markel’s T-shirt, adding “I heart Grace! Taylor.”
“It was so surreal and amazing…[The meeting] was just a warm and genuine exchange that made it feel like time has stopped, and it was just the two of them,” Amy Markel said.
