Bollywood actor Salman Khan is reported to have more fake followers on Twitter than Shah Rukh Khan.
Using the Fake Follower Check app from Status People allows users to find out what proportion of their fans on the social network site are genuine.
From a total of 3,436,575 followers, Shah Rukh Khan’s fans are said to be 16% good, 37% inactive and 47% fake .
However, the app reveals that less than a tenth of Salman Khan’s 3,217,729 followers are real. The site ranked followers of his Twitter handle as 9% good, 38% inactive and 53% fake.
Social media platform TechCrunch have suggested that sometimes such figures can be deceptive.
The high number of non-genuine followers is typical of a celebrity account, which are often the target for spammers as well as users no longer using their Twitter account, they suggested.
