Men will usually insist on paying the restaurant bill on the first date. Let them have the privilege of doing so. They feel good about it. They feel that it will impress you and make them look great.
Let them feel happy doing so. If you are the independent kind of girl who believes in paying or going dutch, tell him politely that the next time you go on a date, the tab will be on you or both of you can share. He will happily agree.
