Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters are on the defensive yet again this week, this time over a leaked track called “Aura” (or “Burqa,” depending on who you ask).
The dizzying EDM-flavored track, which was supposedly produced by Zedd and Infected Mushroom, is a less-than-coherent effort that hasn’t exactly won over critics.
Critics call it “all the best and worst things about Lady Gaga amplified,” noting that the song is ruined by Gaga’s “maddening insistence on being so clumsily artistic.” We think it that this track likely wasn’t meant for our ears: “Probably good to remember that this is just a demo.”
Gaga’s much-anticipated next album, ARTPOP, drops November 11. The lead single, “Applause,” will arrive in just two weeks — barring another embarrassing leak, that is.
