When musical groups split up, we watch and see who comes out on top with a solo career. Beyoncé Knowles took the spotlight when Destiny’s Child split, but group member Kelly Rowland has been able maintain a music career. In her new single “Dirty Laundry,” Kelly admits she is jealous of Bey’s success.
The Dream collaborates with Kelly for this single from Kelly’s album Talk a Good Game.
With such powerful lyrics, I’ll let Kelly do the talking…”When my sister was on stage killing it like a motherf***, I was enraged, feeling it like a motherf***. Bird in a cage you would never know what I was dealing with. Went our separate ways but I was happy that she was killing it. Bitter Sweet she was up and I was down. No lie, I feel good for her but what do I do now?..post Survivor she’s on fire, but who wants to hear my bullsh!t? Meanwhile this nigga is putting his hands on me…I swear y’all don’t know the half of this industry. It’s almost been a decade I’m behind those black shades, roll up like its all good riding around in that Escalade. Fix my makeup. Kelly get it together, Kelly get it together. Then we make up. Nigga get it together.”
The emotional baggage continues to come as Kelly mentions an abusive relationship!
“So here I am in this spin cycle we are coming and we are going and nobody can notice and I was trapped in this house lying to my momma, thought it could get no worse as we maximized the drama. Started to call them people on him. I was battered. He’s hitting the window like it was me, until it shattered. .. He pulled me out and said don’t nobody love you but me, not your momma not your daddy and especially not Bey. He turned me against my sister, I missed Ya.”
We want to give Kelly and hug and let her know she’s our favorite Destiny’s Child artist.
