Microsoft plans to attract gamers by introducing the exclusive Halo game series for the first time on Windows 8 and Windows Phone platform.
Scheduled to be released this July, Halo: Spartan Assault has a price tag of $6.99 only. It will be the first one of the Halo series to be designed specially for touch-screen devices. The traditional keyboard and mouse input controls will also be available though.
“With Halo: Spartan Assault, we wanted to take Halo out of the living room and create a brand new experience that was built specifically for a different screen,” Dan Ayoub, the executive producer on Halo: Spartan Assault, remarked. “This is an opportunity for us to define what makes Halo unique on mobile platforms and really raise the bar for what is possible.”
Unlike earlier entries in the series, which have been first-person shooters, this new game will present the action in a top-down view. Set between Halo 3 and Halo 4, the game lets you play as either Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis, two characters known to Halo fans.
Players can outfit themselves with Halo’s usual series of weapons, including the Magnum, the Assault Rifle, and the Spartan Laser. Vehicles such as the Wraith, Scorpion, Ghost, and Grizzly will also be on hand to help gamers in their struggle against the Covenant Empire.
