An office clerk reported an unsuspecting teenager to police officials in Pennsylvania last week after misinterpreting the words to his cover of the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air theme song.
The unnamed receptionist became alarmed when she attempted to leave a voicemail about a doctor’s appointment on 19-year-old Travis Clawson’s cell phone, only to hear the student reciting Will Smith‘s famous tune, which features the line, “Shooting some b-ball (basketball) outside of the school.”
The clerk misheard the phrase as “shooting people outside of the school” and contacted the cops, who then ordered a lock-down of all schools in Beaver County while Clawson remained at large.
Clawson, who was later tracked down, quickly explained the misunderstanding and was urged by officials to record a new greeting to prevent further confusion.
