Lyndall Locke, Beyonce’s one and only boyfriend before meeting her husband Jay Z, has opened up to the media about his relationship with the singer when she was growing up in Houston.
Locke told reporters that Beyonce was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen and that she’d still be his if he hadn’t cheated on her.
The childhood sweethearts allegedly met in 1993 at a youth church, shared their first kiss at a Brian McKnight concert and attended prom together in 1997.
They dated for nine years and were happily planning a beach wedding before he threw it all away by cheating on her.
Locke said that Beyonce’s vow to abstain from sex before marriage drove him to stray at least five times during their relationship.
“The bigger star she became, the more I didn’t think I was good enough,” he said in the sit-down interview.
“One night, when she was out of town, I went to a bar with friends and ended up sleeping with another woman. Over the course of a few years I cheated on her about five times, but I never told her until after we broke up.
“Who cheats on a woman as beautiful as Beyonce? Well, I am that man and it’s something that’ll always haunt me.
“Once she began dating Jay Z I knew we were doomed and I could never win her back. But I know that no matter what, she will always love me.”
Locke said he had respected Beyonce’s decision to abstain from sex before marriage.
But it sounds like Beyonce is long over Locke. She told the British newspaper The Telegraph in 2008 that Jay Z was the only man for her.
