Disney-produced biopic Paan Singh Tomar has been named the top prize winner at India’s 60th National Film Awards.
The movie, about a soldier who fights injustice in his village, was named Best Film, while its star Irrfan Khan shared the Best Actor trophy with Anumati’s Vikram Gokhale when the awards were announced on Monday.
Usha Jadhav picked up the Best Actress prize for Dhag, which also won Shivaji Lotan Patil the Best Director accolade.
Other winners included Vicky Donor, and Ustad Hotel (tied for Best Popular Film Award), Annu Kapoor (Best Supporting Actor for Vicky Donor), Dolly Ahluwalia and Thanichalla Njan (tied for Best Supporting Actress), and Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Jury Award for films Kahaani, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Dekh India Circus, and Talaash).
The awards will be handed out at a special ceremony in New Delhi by India’s president Pranab Mukherjee later this year.
