Rapper Nicki Minaj has brushed off her label-mate Dj Khaled’s romantic marriage proposal, insisting it was all just promotion for their new music collaboration.
The producer filmed what appeared to be a heartfelt video message for MTV.com last week, expressing his desire to make the Super Bass beauty his wife and he even pulled out a large diamond ring.
In the clip, he spoke directly to Minaj and said, “I want to be honest with you. I love you. I like you. I want you to be mine… I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I wanna marry you. I been working hard to get this ring… Nicki Minaj… will you marry me?”

Minaj remained silent about the proposal until late on Monday, when she shared a Twitter.com link with fans to their new promo for the track I Wanna Be With You and phoned in to New York’s Hot 97 radio station to address the speculation about her love life.
The hip-hop star confessed she was just as stunned by the video proposal as everyone else – but she never took it seriously.
She told DJ Funkmaster Flex, “I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up (laughing) like the rest of the world…
“Nobody in my life took it seriously… Let me set this straight: Khaled is my brother, OK? And Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal y’all, let it go! He was kidding!
“It was just another way for him to give the world a glimpse of the feeling of this record… He’s not attracted to me, he doesn’t like me. We’re brother and sister.”
Khaled is not the first artist signed to Cash Money Records label or Lil Wayne’s imprint Young Money Entertainment to fall for Minaj – Drake has also previously professed his love for his Moment 4 Life collaborator.
