Bollywood actress Shweta Basu Prasad, who was caught in a prostitution racket in Hyderabad, India on Sunday, has reportedly been sent to a rescue home.

The actress in a statement said she was out of money and hence turned to the flesh trade to support her family.

According to a report, a man named Balu, who is an assistant director in Tollywood helped the actress and became her agent. He collected a sum of Rs. 1 lakh from each of the patrons who happened to be well-known businessmen from metro cities.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police N Koti Reddy was quoted saying, she was a victim in the case. She has been sent to a rescue home while Balu has been arrested under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.

The former bright and talented actress made all the right moves in her childhood. With a resume boasting of Vishal Bhardwaj, Nagesh Kukunoor, a super successful TV show Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and a National Film Award for Best Child Artist beside critical acclaim for her role in Iqbal, she had world at her feet.

The actress underwent a medical examination at a government hospital before checking in to the rescue home. Reports state that she will be kept there for three months.
